How To: Determine the Appropriate 10G TCVR Firmware to Load Onto Your Device

Recently, there has been a change in hardware revisions for all 10G TCVR products. Said changes resulted in the new hardware revisions requiring their own unique firmware packages, instead of utilizing a universal firmware package. This article is intended to guide customers on choosing the appropriate firmware for their 10G TCVR devices, and applies to AC-MXNET-10G-TCVR, AC-MXNET-10G-TCVR-AVDM, AC-MXNET-10G-TCVR-PRO, and AC-MXNET-10G-TCVR-USBX models.

Thankfully, the AC-MXNET-10G-CBOX makes determining the correct firmware package to load onto your TCVR's fairly easy, with the addition of a "model name" column within the Diagnostics page. Step by step instructions are written below:

Step One: Log in to your 10G CBOX MENTOR interface using the IP address of "Status Monitor A" on the 10G CBOX. If you're unfamiliar on how to log in to the MENTOR Web interface of the CBOX, please review our Quick Connect Guide.

Step Two: Navigate to the "CONFIGURE" tab on the left hand side of the page. This page displays the vast majority of relevant information necessary to manage and diagnose your 10G system.

Step Three: On the far right side of the Configure page, click on the magnifying glass with "Diagnostics" written to the right of it, to take you to the Diagnostics section of the Configure page.

Step Four: The Third column in the Diagnostic page is a column labeled "Model Name". This column reads and reports the internal model name of your 10G TCVR device(s). This internal model name will deem what firmware package that can be uploaded to the unit via the CBOX. Below are some links to quickly take you to the firmware pages to download the relevant firmware packages.
NOTE: If your 10G TCVR is on firmware version V1.25, regardless of model, please contact technical support for assistance in upgrading your TCVR's firmware.

If the "Model Name" column is reporting "AC-MXNET-10G-TCVR" as the model name, regardless if the TCVR is a TCVR-PRO, TCVR-USBX, or TCVR-AVDM, Please visit this article here: AC-MXNET-10G-TCVR Firmware Page.
Note: As briefly mentioned in the first paragraph of this article, this is not a misread of the model name, rather the TCVR in question is on an earlier hardware revision and still utilizes the "base" TCVR firmware package. You will not be excluded of any relevant PRO/USBX/AVDM features if you use this firmware.
